With hundreds of festivals taking place all over the UK this summer it’s shown how recycling of plastics from bottled water and waste needs to be improved, with the worst age group being those between 18 to 34.

Recycle for Wales carried out a survey across the UK and asked 3,329 people about their recycling habits, it found that 25 per cent said they put things in the recycling bin even if they were not certain it was OK to do so according to BBC News.

19 per cent have never thought to check what their local councils guidelines are for recycling and 42 per cent said that they wouldn’t confidently say that what they’re doing is correct. In a bid to raise awareness of recycling in this age range the campaign is targeting those at Festival No.6 in Portmeirion Gwynedd to make people think twice about what they throw away.

33-year-old Ellen Joslyn who lives in Usk, Monmouthshire spoke to BBC News Wales and said that: “Some packages are made up of cardboard, foil and plastic and you don’t know where you’re going to pop it, so sometimes it will just go in the one sack in my case and you hope for the best.” Recycle for Wales announced that its target of having 64 per cent of waste recycled has been met four years early, showing efforts are being made.
